GoHighLevel vs Whop is a question I now hear every week from coaches, course creators and agencies selling digital products, paid communities and memberships. Both will take money for you. They just charge for it in completely different ways — and that difference compounds as you grow.
Whop is a pay-as-you-go storefront and marketplace: no monthly fee, but a percentage of every sale. HighLevel is a flat monthly subscription that brings your own Stripe account, plus a full CRM, funnels and automation. Below I run the real numbers at three revenue levels, compare features side by side, and tell you exactly who should pick which.
Quick Facts
| Whop monthly fee | None — free to start (Whop pricing page, October 2026) |
| Whop card processing | 2.7% + US$0.30 per successful card transaction (Whop pricing page, October 2026) |
| Whop international / FX | +1.5% for international cards, up to +1% for currency conversion |
| Whop marketplace sales | 30% fee on sales made through the Whop marketplace (Whop pricing page) |
| HighLevel plans | Starter US$97/mo, Unlimited US$297/mo, Agency Pro US$497/mo (gohighlevel.com/pricing, October 2026) |
| Stripe AU domestic cards | 1.65% + A$0.30 standard pricing (stripe.com/au/pricing, October 2026) |
| Stripe AU international cards | 3.5% + A$0.30, plus 2% if currency conversion is needed |
How Whop charges creators in 2026
Whop has grown from selling Discord access into a full creator storefront: you add apps such as Courses, Chat or Forums, set pricing, and Whop handles checkout, access and payouts.
Per Whop's official pricing page (checked October 2026), the base cost is 2.7% + US$0.30 per successful card transaction, with no setup or monthly fee. That sounds simple, but several things stack on top:
- International cards add 1.5%, and currency conversion adds up to 1%. Whop prices in US dollars, so Australian sellers and buyers should check how their sales are classified.
- Optional add-ons — payment orchestration (0.8%), billing (0.5%) and tax collection and remittance (2%) — each add a percentage. With everything switched on, Whop's own page shows a total of 6% + US$0.30.
- Payout fees are charged per payout and vary by method, including international bank transfers.
- Marketplace sales found through Whop's own discovery marketplace attract a 30% fee.
Be aware that Whop's pages don't all agree: its "Sell" page has promoted a 3% store fee alongside the 30% marketplace rate. Check your own Whop dashboard before you budget — the fee screen there is what you'll actually be charged.
How HighLevel charges: flat subscription plus Stripe
HighLevel flips the model. You pay a fixed monthly subscription, connect your own Stripe account, and Stripe charges its normal processing fees. Per gohighlevel.com/pricing in October 2026, plans are Starter at US$97/month, Unlimited at US$297/month and Agency Pro at US$497/month, with annual billing at US$970, US$2,970 and US$4,970 respectively.
On the Stripe side, Stripe's Australian pricing page lists standard domestic cards at 1.65% + A$0.30 and international cards at 3.5% + A$0.30, with an extra 2% when currency conversion applies.
For a standard Stripe connection, HighLevel doesn't add its own percentage on top of your sales. If you want the full setup walk-through, my guide to HighLevel payments, Stripe invoices and subscriptions covers connecting Stripe, products, recurring billing and invoices step by step.
GoHighLevel vs Whop true cost: the worked example
Here are the assumptions, stated plainly so you can rerun them with your own numbers:
- Average order value of $50, so $2,000/month = 40 sales, $10,000 = 200 sales, $30,000 = 600 sales.
- Whop (base): 2.7% + $0.30 per sale, no add-ons, no marketplace sales.
- Whop (international + FX): 2.7% + 1.5% + 1% = 5.2% + $0.30 per sale, the worst case if your buyers' cards are treated as international and converted.
- HighLevel Starter: US$97/month plus Stripe AU domestic 1.65% + $0.30 per sale.
- Payout fees, refunds, chargebacks and GST are excluded. To keep the arithmetic readable I've treated all figures at face value in one currency — HighLevel and Whop bill in USD while Stripe AU charges in AUD, so convert at the day's rate for your own books.
| Monthly revenue | Whop base (2.7% + $0.30) | Whop intl + FX (5.2% + $0.30) | HighLevel Starter ($97 + 1.65% + $0.30) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $2,000 (40 sales) | $54 + $12 = $66 (3.3%) | $104 + $12 = $116 (5.8%) | $97 + $33 + $12 = $142 (7.1%) |
| $10,000 (200 sales) | $270 + $60 = $330 (3.3%) | $520 + $60 = $580 (5.8%) | $97 + $165 + $60 = $322 (3.2%) |
| $30,000 (600 sales) | $810 + $180 = $990 (3.3%) | $1,560 + $180 = $1,740 (5.8%) | $97 + $495 + $180 = $772 (2.6%) |
Because the per-sale fixed fee is the same $0.30 on both sides, the break-even comes down to the percentage gap. Against Whop's base rate, the gap is 2.7% − 1.65% = 1.05%, so HighLevel Starter pays for itself at roughly $9,240 a month ($97 ÷ 0.0105).
Against the international-plus-FX scenario, the gap widens to 3.55%, and break-even drops to roughly $2,730 a month ($97 ÷ 0.0355). Switch on Whop's tax or billing add-ons and the crossover arrives even sooner.
The 30% marketplace fee is a separate question: it's an acquisition cost, so compare it to your ad cost per sale, not to Stripe.
HighLevel vs Whop feature comparison
| Feature | Whop | HighLevel |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Percentage per sale, no monthly fee | Flat monthly plan + your own Stripe fees |
| Checkout | Hosted Whop checkout and storefront | Branded funnels, order forms, one-click upsells and order bumps on your own domain |
| Audience discovery | Built-in marketplace (30% fee on those sales) | None — you bring your own traffic |
| Courses and community | Courses, Chat, Forums and Livestreaming apps | Memberships, courses and Communities in the client portal |
| Discord / Telegram gating | Core strength — role-based access out of the box | Possible via integrations, not native |
| CRM and pipelines | Basic customer list | Full CRM, custom fields, tags, pipelines and opportunities |
| Email, SMS and automation | Limited | Workflows with triggers, email via Mailgun/LeadConnector, SMS, Conversation AI |
| Payout currency for Aussies | USD-based, per-payout fees by method | Stripe settles to your AU bank in AUD |
| Client accounts (agencies) | No | Sub-accounts, snapshots, SaaS Mode on Agency Pro |
The pattern is clear. Whop is a storefront with a built-in audience; HighLevel is a sales and marketing operating system that happens to take payments. If you're comparing other creator checkouts too, my GoHighLevel vs Gumroad fee breakdown runs the same arithmetic against a pure digital-download platform.
Who should pick Whop and who should pick HighLevel
Pick Whop if…
- You're validating your first product and earning under a few thousand dollars a month.
- Your community lives in Discord or Telegram and you want access control handled for you.
- You want marketplace exposure and you're comfortable paying 30% on those sales.
Pick HighLevel if…
- You're consistently above roughly $9k a month, or most of your buyers pay with cards that would attract international and conversion fees on Whop.
- You sell high-ticket coaching that needs calendars, sales calls and pipeline follow-up.
- You want to own the customer relationship — email list, SMS consent and data — on your own domain.
Coaches running a paid community should also read my GoHighLevel vs Skool community cost comparison, because Skool is the other platform that comes up in almost every one of these conversations.

The Australian lens: AUD, GST and payouts
Currency is the quiet cost. Whop prices in US dollars, so Australian sellers face conversion and per-payout fees. With HighLevel and Stripe AU, buyers pay in AUD and funds land in your Australian bank in AUD.
GST is the other piece. Per the ATO, the registration threshold is A$75,000 in annual GST turnover, and GST applies to digital products sold to Australian consumers once you're registered. The ATO also notes that when an electronic distribution platform is responsible for GST on a sale, that sale doesn't count toward your own turnover — so how Whop's tax add-on treats your sales matters. Talk to your accountant before assuming either way.
Migrating from Whop to HighLevel (or running both)
You don't have to choose all at once. The hybrid setup I recommend most often keeps Whop for marketplace discovery and Discord access, while HighLevel runs your own funnels, email list and higher-ticket offers.
- Rebuild your offer in HighLevel as a product, an order form and a membership or community. My HighLevel memberships and courses setup guide covers the build.
- Export your customer list from Whop and import it into the CRM with a tag such as "whop-migrated".
- Move new sales first — point your bio links and ads at the HighLevel funnel while existing Whop subscribers stay put.
- Invite existing members with a Workflow-driven email sequence and a loyalty coupon to switch over.
Card subscriptions generally can't be transferred between processors, so plan for some drop-off. The same logic applies whichever platform you leave — the GoHighLevel vs Stan Store comparison walks through a similar switch for link-in-bio sellers.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Comparing headline rates only. Whop's 2.7% looks close to Stripe's, but international, FX, add-on and payout fees can push the effective rate much higher.
- Ignoring the marketplace fee. A 30% cut on discovered sales is an acquisition cost — budget it like ad spend.
- Buying HighLevel too early. At $1,000–$2,000 a month, US$97 is a big slice unless you'll use the CRM.
- Forgetting currency. Mixing USD platform fees with AUD revenue without converting makes your margins look better than they are.
- Migrating subscribers in one hit. Cancelling Whop plans before members rejoin on HighLevel guarantees churn.

Frequently asked questions
Is GoHighLevel cheaper than Whop?
It depends on your revenue. Using Whop's base rate of 2.7% + US$0.30 and Stripe AU's 1.65% + A$0.30, HighLevel's US$97 Starter plan breaks even at roughly $9,240 a month in sales. Below that Whop is usually cheaper on fees; above it HighLevel usually wins.
What fees does Whop charge in 2026?
Whop's pricing page lists 2.7% + US$0.30 per successful card transaction with no monthly fee, plus 1.5% for international cards and up to 1% for currency conversion. Optional add-ons for orchestration, billing and tax add further percentages, and sales from the Whop marketplace carry a 30% fee. Check your Whop dashboard for the rate that applies to your account.
Does HighLevel take a percentage of my sales?
With a standard Stripe connection, HighLevel charges a flat monthly subscription rather than a percentage of sales. You pay Stripe's normal processing fees, which in Australia are 1.65% + A$0.30 for standard domestic cards per Stripe's pricing page in October 2026.
Can I run Whop and HighLevel together?
Yes, and many creators do. A common hybrid keeps Whop for marketplace discovery and Discord access while HighLevel runs your own funnels, email and SMS follow-up and higher-ticket offers. Tag Whop customers in the HighLevel CRM so you can nurture them from one place.
Is HighLevel vs Whop better for a paid community?
Whop is stronger if your community lives in Discord or Telegram, because role-based access is built in. HighLevel is stronger if you want the community on your own domain alongside courses, a CRM and automated email and SMS. Your choice should follow where your members already hang out.
Do Australian sellers pay GST on Whop or HighLevel sales?
GST registration is required once your annual GST turnover reaches A$75,000, per the ATO. The ATO says sales where an electronic distribution platform is responsible for GST don't count toward your own turnover, so how each platform handles tax matters. Confirm your position with your accountant.
How do I move my Whop members to HighLevel?
Rebuild your offer as a HighLevel product, order form and membership, import your customer list with a tag, then invite members with an automated email sequence. Cancel their Whop plans only after they've rejoined, because card subscriptions generally can't be transferred between processors.
