GoHighLevel vs Sellfy is a question I get from creators and service businesses who have outgrown a simple storefront but aren't sure they need a full CRM. Both tools take payments, both sell digital products, and both charge a monthly plan fee. That's where the similarity ends.
In this guide I compare checkout features, payment processing, Sellfy's revenue caps and overage fee, and the true plan cost at three revenue levels. Then I'll show you where the real gap sits: follow-up, automation and the customer relationship after the sale.
Quick Facts
| Sellfy Starter | US$29/month (US$22/month billed yearly), US$10K annual sales cap |
| Sellfy Business | US$79/month (US$59/month billed yearly), US$50K annual sales cap |
| Sellfy Premium | US$159/month (US$119/month billed yearly), US$200K annual sales cap |
| Sellfy transaction fees | 0% on all plans (Stripe/PayPal fees still apply) |
| Sellfy overage | May be charged 2% on revenue above the plan limit |
| HighLevel plans | Starter US$97/month, Unlimited US$297/month, Agency Pro US$497/month |
GoHighLevel vs Sellfy: who each platform is really built for
Before comparing features, it helps to be honest about what each tool is designed to do. They solve different problems, and most of the frustration I see comes from using one to do the other's job.
Sellfy: a creator storefront
Sellfy is an all-in-one storefront for creators. You get a hosted store, product pages and checkout for digital downloads, subscriptions, physical products and print-on-demand merchandise.
It's quick to set up and the learning curve is gentle. If you're a designer selling templates, a musician selling beats or a coach selling a handful of PDFs, Sellfy gets you selling within an afternoon.
HighLevel: CRM, funnels and automation in one
HighLevel is a different animal. It's a CRM with pipelines, funnels, websites, order forms, calendars, email and SMS, and a Workflow builder that ties them all together. Agencies run it across sub-accounts and can resell it in SaaS Mode on Agency Pro.
It suits service businesses, coaches with programs, and agencies who need every lead and buyer tracked as a contact with tags, custom fields and a pipeline stage. Selling is one part of the system, not the whole system.
Sellfy vs HighLevel checkout features, side by side
Here's how the checkout itself compares. I've kept this qualitative where features vary by plan, so check each vendor's current pricing page before you decide.
| Feature | Sellfy | HighLevel |
|---|---|---|
| Hosted storefront | Yes, built in and creator-focused | Yes, via the ecommerce store in Sites |
| Order forms on landing pages | Product pages and embed buttons | One-step and two-step order forms inside funnels |
| Order bumps and upsells | Upsell offers available (some plan-gated) | Order bumps plus one-click upsell and downsell pages |
| Subscriptions | Yes | Yes, recurring products via your connected processor |
| Coupons and discounts | Yes | Yes |
| Physical and print-on-demand | Yes, print-on-demand built in | Physical products yes; no native print-on-demand |
| CRM and automation after purchase | Basic customer list and email marketing | Full CRM, pipelines, Workflows, email and SMS |
Where HighLevel's checkout pulls ahead
The big difference is the funnel. In HighLevel, the order form sits on a page you fully control, and the bump and upsell steps are part of the same funnel. If you want the full build, my guide to GoHighLevel order forms and upsells walks through the setup step by step.
Where Sellfy is simpler
Sellfy wins on speed and on merch. If print-on-demand is a big part of your revenue, HighLevel has no native equivalent, and you'd be bolting on another tool to replace it.
Payment processing: Stripe and PayPal fees apply on both
Neither platform is a payment processor. Sellfy connects to Stripe and PayPal, and HighLevel connects to Stripe and other supported gateways.
Processor fees apply either way. Sellfy charges 0% transaction fees on all plans according to Sellfy's pricing page (2026), but Stripe or PayPal still take their cut of every sale. The same is true inside HighLevel.
So when someone tells you one platform is "free to sell on", they're usually talking about the platform fee, not the processor. If you're setting up payments in HighLevel for the first time, start with my walkthrough of the HighLevel Stripe integration.
Sellfy revenue caps and the 2% overage fee
This is the part of Sellfy pricing that catches people out. Each Sellfy plan has an annual sales cap: US$10K on Starter, US$50K on Business and US$200K on Premium, per Sellfy's pricing page (2026).
Sellfy's FAQ says accounts that stay on a plan after exceeding its limit may be charged a 2% overage fee on revenue above the limit. In practice, that means your plan fee rises as your sales grow, whether you upgrade or pay the overage.
Here's a simple worked example. If you stayed on Starter and sold US$40K in a year, the overage on the US$30K above the cap would be US$600, on top of the plan fee. That's usually the point where upgrading makes more sense.
HighLevel works differently. Its plans aren't tied to how much you sell, though usage like SMS and email is billed separately. You can confirm current tiers on the HighLevel pricing page and compare against Sellfy's pricing page.
GoHighLevel vs Sellfy true cost at three revenue levels
The table below compares annual plan fees only, using the Sellfy plan whose cap covers each sales level against HighLevel Starter. Processor fees are excluded because they apply to both platforms, and HighLevel usage charges like SMS and email are extra.
| Annual sales | Sellfy plan needed | Sellfy (monthly billing) | Sellfy (yearly billing) | HighLevel Starter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| US$8K | Starter (US$10K cap) | US$348/year | US$264/year | US$1,164/year |
| US$40K | Business (US$50K cap) | US$948/year | US$708/year | US$1,164/year |
| US$150K | Premium (US$200K cap) | US$1,908/year | US$1,428/year | US$1,164/year |
What the numbers actually say
At US$8K, Sellfy is clearly cheaper on plan fees. At US$40K the gap narrows. By US$150K, HighLevel Starter costs less than Sellfy Premium on either billing cycle.
But plan fees are only half the story. HighLevel Starter also replaces your email tool, booking tool, funnel builder and CRM, while Sellfy covers the store and basic email marketing. Compare your whole stack, not one line item.

The CRM and automation gap between Sellfy and HighLevel
This is where the comparison stops being close. Sellfy tells you who bought. HighLevel lets you act on it automatically.
Post-purchase follow-up with Workflows
In HighLevel, every purchase can fire a Workflow. Using the Order Submitted trigger in HighLevel, you can tag the buyer, move them to a pipeline stage, send an onboarding sequence and notify your team.
- Tag buyers by product so future campaigns can filter by what they bought
- Write purchase details to custom fields for reporting and personalisation
- Send a welcome email through LC Email or Mailgun and a delivery SMS
- Create an internal task or opportunity for high-ticket orders
Abandoned cart recovery
In a two-step order form, the contact is created at step one. A Workflow can wait, check whether a purchase happened, and send a reminder if it didn't. That's abandoned cart recovery built from standard Workflow logic, and you control the timing and copy.
SMS and conversation history
HighLevel includes two-way SMS through LeadConnector, so buyer conversations sit on the contact record with their order history. Just remember to respect DND settings and consent, and budget for SMS usage, which is billed separately.
GST considerations for Australian sellers
If you're selling from Australia, GST handling deserves attention on either platform. Think about whether you're registered, whether prices are displayed GST-inclusive, and how tax shows on receipts for local versus overseas buyers.
Both tools give you tax settings, but neither replaces advice from your accountant. For the HighLevel side, my guide to multi-currency and GST setup for Australian agencies covers the settings I check on every build.
Migrating from Sellfy to HighLevel
Moving doesn't have to be a big-bang switch. Here's the path I use with clients:
- Export your customers from Sellfy and import them into HighLevel with tags for each product they bought
- Connect Stripe in HighLevel and recreate your products and prices
- Rebuild checkout as funnel order forms, or as a storefront if you sell many SKUs
- Recreate subscriptions carefully, as active subscribers usually need a planned move rather than a silent switch
- Build Workflows for delivery, follow-up and abandoned cart before you send traffic
- Run both in parallel for a short period, then retire Sellfy links
If you sell lots of products and want a catalogue rather than funnels, follow my HighLevel ecommerce store setup guide for the store side.
Verdict: Sellfy vs HighLevel for your business
Stay on Sellfy if
- You're a creator selling mainly digital products or print-on-demand merch
- Your sales sit comfortably under the Starter or Business cap
- You don't need a CRM, pipelines or SMS follow-up
Switch to HighLevel if
- You sell services, programs or high-ticket offers that need follow-up
- You want order bumps, upsells and automation in one funnel
- Your sales are heading towards Sellfy's higher tiers and you're paying for separate CRM and email tools
Use both if
You rely on print-on-demand merch but run your core business through funnels. Keep Sellfy for the merch store and use HighLevel for leads, offers and follow-up, linking the two with tags and imports.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Comparing plan fees without counting processor fees, which apply on both platforms
- Ignoring Sellfy's annual sales caps until the overage fee shows up
- Forgetting that HighLevel SMS and email usage is billed separately
- Moving active subscriptions without a plan, which can interrupt recurring revenue
- Launching HighLevel checkout before the delivery and follow-up Workflows are tested
- Leaving GST display and receipts unchecked for Australian buyers

Frequently asked questions
Is GoHighLevel cheaper than Sellfy?
It depends on your sales. At lower revenue, Sellfy's plan fees are cheaper than HighLevel Starter at US$97/month. At higher revenue, Sellfy Premium at US$159/month (or US$119/month billed yearly) costs more than HighLevel Starter, and HighLevel also replaces other tools.
Does Sellfy charge transaction fees?
Sellfy's pricing page (2026) states 0% Sellfy transaction fees on all plans. Your payment processor, such as Stripe or PayPal, still charges its own fees on every sale.
What happens if I exceed my Sellfy sales cap?
Sellfy's FAQ says accounts that stay on a plan after exceeding its limit may be charged a 2% overage fee on revenue above the limit. Upgrading to the next plan is usually the cleaner option once you're consistently over the cap.
Can HighLevel do abandoned cart recovery?
Yes, using Workflows. With a two-step order form the contact is captured at the first step, so a Workflow can wait, check for a purchase and send email or SMS reminders if the order wasn't completed.
Can HighLevel replace Sellfy for print-on-demand?
Not natively. HighLevel can sell physical products, but it has no built-in print-on-demand service. If merch matters to you, keeping Sellfy for that store and using HighLevel for everything else is a sensible setup.
Does Sellfy have a free trial?
Yes. Sellfy offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required, plus a 30-day money-back guarantee, according to Sellfy's pricing page (2026).
Do Australian sellers need to think about GST on both platforms?
Yes. Whichever platform you use, check how prices display, whether GST is included, and how receipts show tax for local and overseas buyers. Confirm your obligations with your accountant.
