Every few weeks a trade business owner asks me to settle the GoHighLevel vs Simpro question, and my honest first answer is that they are comparing a spanner to a multimeter. Simpro runs the job. GoHighLevel wins the job and keeps the customer talking to you afterwards.

The wrong choice here costs real money. In this guide I cover what each platform actually does, where they overlap, what a 3-user and a 10-user Australian trade business should budget over 12 months, and the "run both" pattern most of my electrical, plumbing, HVAC and fire clients end up on.

Simpro vs GoHighLevel: two different jobs, one confused shortlist

Simpro is built for the part of a trade business that starts once a job is won. Its base plan covers estimating, scheduling, inventory, invoicing, accounting integrations and reporting, with paid add-ons for Digital Forms, Takeoffs, Maintenance Planner, SMS, VoIP and Simtrac fleet tracking (Simpro pricing page, 2026).

GoHighLevel is built for the part before and after the job. Forms and chat widgets capture the enquiry, a pipeline tracks it, Workflows send the SMS and email follow-up, a calendar books the site visit, and review automation asks for the Google review once the invoice is paid.

The overlap is thinner than the marketing suggests. Both have a "CRM" and both send SMS, but Simpro's CRM is a customer and site record attached to jobs, while GHL's CRM is a lead-nurturing engine with triggers, tags and custom fields built to chase people who have not said yes yet.

What Simpro does that GoHighLevel cannot

  • Estimating with supplier catalogue pricing and takeoffs from plans
  • Scheduling and dispatch for technicians and subcontractors, with timesheets
  • Job costing, WIP reports and retentions on commercial projects
  • Inventory, purchase orders and wholesaler integrations
  • Asset maintenance planning for fire, HVAC and security compliance

What GoHighLevel does that Simpro cannot

  • Missed-call text-back that replies within seconds when your tradies are on the tools
  • Multi-step quote follow-up Workflows across SMS, email and voicemail drops
  • Conversation AI that answers enquiries and books jobs out of hours

Simpro owns everything from quote acceptance to final invoice; GoHighLevel owns everything from first enquiry to quote acceptance, and from invoice to repeat business. Neither is a substitute for the other.

GoHighLevel vs Simpro true cost over 12 months (AUD)

This is where the comparison gets uneven, so I will be precise about what is verified. GoHighLevel publishes its pricing: Starter at USD $97 per month, Unlimited at USD $297 and Agency Pro at USD $497, with unlimited users and contacts on every plan and usage charges for SMS, calls, email and AI on top (HighLevel pricing page, 2026).

Simpro does not publish prices. Its pricing page has a single "Request Pricing" button, lists the base plan, and notes that add-ons are purchased separately (Simpro pricing page, 2026). Third-party directories publish per-user estimates that contradict each other, so I do not repeat them.

Treat Simpro as quote-based, typically enterprise-tier, and budget for three lines: per-user licences, add-ons, and implementation and training. Some Australian user reviews on Capterra (2026) also mention multi-year contract terms and minimum user counts, so ask about both before you sign.

What a 3-user trade business should budget

GoHighLevel figures below are converted at roughly AUD 1.50 to the US dollar; check the rate on the day. Usage figures are my estimates from the trade accounts we manage, not vendor numbers.

Cost line (12 months)SimproGoHighLevel Starter
Software licencesQuote-based (3 user licences)USD $1,164, roughly AUD $1,750
Add-ons (SMS, forms, VoIP)Quote-based, each priced separatelyIncluded in plan
SMS, email and AI usageSMS add-on, quote-basedVariable; low hundreds AUD per year for a small team (our estimate)
Implementation and trainingCustom, quoted by Simpro or a partnerDIY with a snapshot, or a one-off agency build fee

What a 10-user trade business should budget

Here the models diverge. GoHighLevel Starter costs the same for 10 users as for 3, because seats are unlimited; only usage grows, plus a possible move to Unlimited (USD $3,564 a year, roughly AUD $5,350) if you want API access or separate sub-accounts per branch.

Simpro's cost scales with every licence, and at 10 users you are usually also paying for Digital Forms, SMS and a maintenance or takeoffs add-on. At this size the software fee is often smaller than the implementation and training bill, so get the full first-year number in writing.

If you already run Xero, my GoHighLevel Xero integration setup and cost guide covers how the GHL side of the ledger works.

Simpro charges you per person who runs jobs. GoHighLevel charges you a flat fee to win them. Price them on what they do, not on what they are called.

Where Simpro and GoHighLevel actually overlap

Three places where either tool could do the job, and where picking wrong creates double handling.

Customer records

Simpro is the system of record for anyone who has had a job, because sites, assets and invoices live there. GoHighLevel holds every enquiry, including the ones that never become jobs, tagged by source, service and suburb for re-marketing.

SMS

Simpro's SMS add-on is for operational messages: "Your technician is on the way." GoHighLevel's SMS, sent through LeadConnector on an A2P-registered sender that meets ACMA rules, is for sales: quote reminders, review requests and reactivation.

Quotes

Simpro builds the quote with catalogue pricing and margin. GoHighLevel chases it. A trigger fires when the Simpro quote status changes, and a quote follow-up Workflow takes over with a day-two SMS, a day-five email and a day-ten call task. In our client accounts, that sequence is the highest-return automation a trade business can run.

The "run both" pattern: Simpro for jobs, GoHighLevel for leads

Most growth-stage trade businesses I work with end up here. Simpro stays untouched as the backbone; GoHighLevel sits in front of it. The connection is usually Zapier, because Simpro's Zapier integration needs no configuration inside Simpro (Simpro Zapier integration page, 2026).

The data flow that works

  • Enquiry lands in GHL from a form, missed call, Google Ads lead form or Conversation AI chat
  • Pipeline stage "Site visit booked" triggers a Zap that creates the customer in Simpro
  • Simpro quote issued fires a Zap back that moves the GHL opportunity to "Quote sent" and starts follow-up
  • Simpro job invoiced triggers the GHL review request and a 12-month reminder Workflow
  • A custom field in GHL stores the Simpro customer ID so nothing is created twice

Zapier's Professional plan starts around USD $20 per month on annual billing for 750 tasks (Zapier published pricing, 2026), enough for a 3-user business. Make and direct webhooks are cheaper at volume; I cover the trade-offs in my GoHighLevel Zapier integration setup and cost guide.

The rule that keeps this clean: one owner per field. GHL owns lead source, stage and marketing consent; Simpro owns site, job, cost and invoice. If both systems can edit the same field, one will eventually be wrong.

Who should pick GoHighLevel, who should pick Simpro, who needs both

Pick Simpro alone if

  • You run 10 or more field staff on commercial, project or maintenance contracts
  • Job costing, WIP reporting, inventory and asset compliance are your daily pain
  • Your work comes from tenders, builders and facility managers rather than inbound enquiries

Pick GoHighLevel alone if

  • You are a 1 to 5 person residential trade business living off Google, referrals and ads
  • Your biggest leak is enquiries never called back and quotes never chased
  • Your jobs are simple enough to schedule from a calendar and invoice from Xero

Run both if

  • You are between 5 and 30 staff and growth depends on marketing, not just capacity
  • Simpro is already embedded and the office would revolt if you replaced it
  • You want a missed call text-back setup and review engine without disturbing job execution

If Simpro feels like more than you need, my GoHighLevel vs Tradify comparison runs the same cost exercise at the small end of the market.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Buying Simpro to fix a lead follow-up problem. It is not designed for that, and enquiries will keep going cold while you pay enterprise licence fees.
  • Trying to run scheduling and job costing in GoHighLevel. Calendars are not a dispatch board, and there is no inventory or WIP reporting.
  • Signing a multi-year Simpro contract without confirming the total first-year cost, including add-ons, implementation and training.
  • Sending marketing SMS from an unregistered number. Complete A2P registration through LeadConnector before your first campaign or your messages will be filtered.
  • Skipping the snapshot. A trade-specific GHL snapshot with pipelines, Workflows, tags and custom fields pre-built saves weeks over a blank sub-account.

Frequently asked questions

Is GoHighLevel a replacement for Simpro?

No. GoHighLevel is a marketing and sales CRM; Simpro is a field-service and job management system. GHL cannot do catalogue estimating, dispatch, job costing or inventory, so a business that needs those still needs Simpro or a similar platform.

How much does Simpro cost in Australia?

Simpro does not publish prices; it is quote-based with per-user licences, separately priced add-ons and custom implementation. Third-party estimates online contradict each other, so request a written quote showing total first-year cost, contract length and minimum user count.

How much does GoHighLevel cost for a trade business?

GoHighLevel's published plans are USD $97 (Starter), $297 (Unlimited) and $497 (Agency Pro) per month, each with unlimited users and contacts. On top of that you pay usage for SMS, calls, email and AI, which is modest for a small trade business.

Can Simpro and GoHighLevel integrate?

Yes. Simpro has a listed Zapier integration and an open API, and GoHighLevel supports Zapier, Make and webhooks. The common pattern is GHL creating the customer in Simpro when a site visit is booked, and Simpro pushing quote and job status back to GHL to drive follow-up and review requests.

Does GoHighLevel integrate with Xero like Simpro does?

Both connect to Xero. Simpro pushes invoices, payments, timesheets and customer details to Xero, and also supports MYOB, QuickBooks and Sage. GoHighLevel's Xero connection is narrower, focused on invoices and payments, so most trade businesses keep Simpro as the accounting source and use GHL for the front end.

Which is better for a small electrician or plumber?

For a 1 to 5 person residential business, GoHighLevel usually delivers more value because the biggest problems are missed calls and unchased quotes. Simpro becomes the better fit as job complexity, technician count and commercial work grow.

What is the cheapest way to run both?

Keep your existing Simpro licence, add GoHighLevel Starter at USD $97 per month, and connect them with Zapier or direct webhooks. Start with two automations, new lead to Simpro customer and job invoiced to review request, and expand once those are stable.
