GoHighLevel AI Employee Pricing: What's Included (2026)

GoHighLevel AI Employee pricing runs on three tracks: pay-per-use at token cost, AI Employee Growth at USD $50 per month per sub-account, or AI Employee Unlimited at USD $97 per month per sub-account. All HighLevel pricing is quoted in US dollars, which matters more for Australian agencies than most people account for. "AI Employee" is not one product. It is the billing wrapper HighLevel puts around a group of AI features — Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI, Content AI, plus included access to Workflow AI, Funnel & Website AI, Email AI and the Knowledge Base. Agent Studio sits outside all three plans and is always billed on token consumption.

The short version of the HighLevel AI Employee cost question: if a sub-account is running low volume, pay-per-use is dramatically cheaper than $97 and most agencies over-buy. If a sub-account is genuinely running an inbound Voice AI receptionist plus a 24/7 SMS and web chat agent, Unlimited pays for itself somewhere around 700 to 1,000 Voice AI minutes a month on the cheaper text-to-speech voices — and much sooner on premium voices. Below is the actual rate card, a worked example at real volume, and the parts of the bill that catch Australian agencies out.

What AI Employee actually includes

The name suggests a single hire. In practice it is a bundle of separate features that share a subscription line item.

The four billed products

Conversation AI handles SMS, Facebook, Instagram, GBP and web chat replies. It is billed on tokens — input (the customer's message, conversation history, your prompt, contact fields and knowledge base content) plus output. Two conversations of the same length can cost different amounts because prompt size and retrieved context vary. Our GoHighLevel Conversation AI guide covers prompt structure and handoff rules.

Voice AI answers and places calls. Its pay-per-use cost is three components stacked: a Voice Engine rate, a text-to-speech rate that depends entirely on which voice provider you pick, and LLM tokens. Telephony is charged on top and is never included in any AI plan. The GoHighLevel Voice AI guide walks through agent configuration and call transfer logic.

Reviews AI writes responses to Google and Facebook reviews. Content AI generates marketing copy and images inside emails, funnels, social posts and blogs.

The free-but-limited products

Funnel & Website AI is free on every plan, capped at 1,000 prompts per day per location. Email AI and the Knowledge Base are included subject to fair use. Workflow AI's builder and Generate with AI are free with a daily limit that resets within 24 hours.

The one that is never included

Agent Studio — the multi-agent builder for custom agents with tools, APIs and flow logic — is explicitly excluded from Pay-Per-Use, Growth and Unlimited. It always bills at model token rates, plus per-unit charges for web search and image or video generation. Agencies building anything ambitious with GoHighLevel Agent Studio custom AI agents should budget for it as a separate line, not assume the $97 covers it. It does not.

GoHighLevel AI Employee pricing: the three plans

All three are set per enabled sub-account, not per agency. That detail is where most agency budgets go wrong.

Pay-Per-Use

No monthly fee. You pay token cost on Conversation AI, Voice AI (engine plus TTS plus tokens), $0.01 per Reviews AI response, and Content AI at $0.063 per image and $0.0945 per 1,000 words. This is the default state of any sub-account not explicitly upgraded.

AI Employee Growth — USD $50/month

Includes 1,000 Conversation AI agent responses and 100 Voice AI minutes per month (inbound, outbound and widget combined), plus unlimited Reviews AI and Content AI. Overages do not cut you off — they roll onto pay-per-use rates. Growth is a narrow band: 100 voice minutes is under two hours of calls, which a busy trades business burns through in a fortnight.

AI Employee Unlimited — USD $97/month

Unlimited Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI and Content AI, plus 3x the included Ask AI and AI Studio allowance, all subject to fair use. HighLevel reserves the right to throttle accounts whose usage is excessive or degrades platform performance. In practice we have not seen a legitimate small-business sub-account get near that ceiling.

Pay-as-you-go rates by feature

All USD, current at the time of writing (August 2026), and worth re-checking against the official HighLevel AI Product Pricing doc before you quote a client — HighLevel has revised the voice rate card twice in 2026 already.

Voice AI: Voice Engine $0.045/min (effective 20 May 2026). TTS: OpenAI and Cartesia $0.015/min, ElevenLabs V2.5 $0.035/min, ElevenLabs V3 $0.170/min. LLM tokens on top at the selected model's rate — Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite $0.10 per million, GPT-5 Mini $0.25, Claude 4.5 Sonnet $3.00. Telephony separate.

Conversation AI: GPT-5 at $1.25 input / $10.00 output per million tokens. GPT-5 Mini at $0.25 / $2.00. GPT-4.1 at $2.00 / $8.00. GPT-4.1 Mini at $0.40 / $1.60.

Reviews AI: $0.01 per review response. Content AI: $0.063 per image, $0.0945 per 1,000 words.

Premium Workflow AI actions — Decision Maker, Intent Detection, Summarize Text and Translate — are $0.01 per execution on every plan, including Unlimited. They sit outside the AI Employee bundle entirely. At volume, the Workflow Pro tiers bring the rate down: $10/month for 10,000 executions then $0.008, $25/month for 30,000 then $0.006, $50/month for 65,000 then $0.004.

Worked example: 1,500 conversations and 300 Voice AI minutes

Take one sub-account — a suburban dental practice — doing 1,500 Conversation AI agent responses and 300 Voice AI minutes a month, plus 40 review responses and 20,000 words of Content AI.

On pay-per-use with OpenAI TTS: voice engine plus TTS is 300 × $0.060 = $18.00, and LLM tokens on a mid-tier model add roughly $2 to $5. Conversation AI at 1,500 responses, assuming around 3,000 input and 150 output tokens each, lands near $1.60 on GPT-5 Mini or $7.90 on GPT-5 — closer to $18 with a heavy knowledge base inflating the prompt. Reviews AI is $0.40 and Content AI about $1.90. Total: roughly $25 to $45.

Growth at $50 covers only 1,000 responses and 100 minutes, so you pay $50 plus overages on 500 responses and 200 minutes — call it $63 to $70. Unlimited is a flat $97. At this volume pay-per-use wins comfortably, which surprises most agencies, because $97 is the plan HighLevel markets hardest.

Monthly usage on one sub-accountPay-Per-Use (USD)Growth $50 (USD)Unlimited $97 (USD)
Light: 200 responses, 20 voice min, 10 reviews~$2 – $4$50$97
Medium: 1,500 responses, 300 voice min, 40 reviews~$25 – $45~$63 – $70$97
Heavy: 8,000 responses, 2,000 voice min, 300 reviews~$150 – $200~$200 – $250$97

The crossover for Unlimited sits between 700 and 1,000 Voice AI minutes a month on OpenAI or Cartesia voices. Switch to ElevenLabs V3 at $0.170/min and the combined rate jumps to $0.215/min, dropping the crossover to roughly 450 minutes. Voice selection moves the break-even point more than anything else on the rate card.

Where the wallet and usage billing sits

AI usage is funded from the Agency Wallet — the same pool that pays for the phone system, email sending, email validation, address autocomplete and premium workflow actions. If auto-recharge fails, AI stops with everything else: agents go silent mid-conversation and clients find out before you do.

Agency Admins review consumption in the AI Suite at agency level, which gives spend, token usage, transaction counts, per-product and per-model breakdowns and a per-location view. It is not accessible from inside an individual sub-account, which trips people up. Our breakdown of GoHighLevel wallet, reselling and usage billing covers auto-recharge thresholds and the failure modes worth alarming on.

Rebilling AI usage in SaaS Mode and realistic margin

Rebilling AI Employee usage requires the agency to be on HighLevel's $497/month plan. On the $97 and $297 agency plans you can use AI, but you cannot on-charge it — every dollar of client AI consumption comes out of your wallet and stays there.

Two rebilling models

The first is a multiplier on usage. In agency settings you set a rate such as 2.5x, meaning the client pays $2.50 for every $1.00 of underlying cost. The second is the AI Employee Reselling panel, where you set your own monthly price for the unlimited plan — $197 or $297 against your $97 cost is common — and the client sees an upgrade prompt inside Conversation AI, Voice AI, Content AI or Reviews AI.

What margin actually looks like

Reselling Unlimited at $297 against a $97 cost is a clean $200 per sub-account per month, but only if usage justifies unlimited. Sell it to a client doing 200 conversations a month and you are charging $297 for something that costs you $3 — which survives until they read a comparison article. The multiplier model is more defensible for low-volume accounts and more dangerous for heavy Voice AI users, because a busy month produces an invoice the client will not pay quietly. We set a multiplier for small accounts, a fixed resale price for high-volume ones, and review quarterly.

Australian considerations

USD billing and FX

Every figure above is USD. At an AUD/USD rate around 0.65, a $97 sub-account costs roughly A$149 before your card issuer's international transaction fee — typically another 2–3%. If you quote clients in AUD on a fixed retainer and the dollar moves five cents against you, your margin moves with it. Build the FX buffer in rather than absorbing it. Check the GoHighLevel pricing page for current agency tiers, since AI rebilling is gated behind the top one.

ACMA and A2P for SMS

An AI agent that texts is still a sender under Australian rules. Spam Act consent, sender identification and unsubscribe obligations apply exactly as they would to a human, and Australian numbers still need carrier registration. Conversation AI will happily send a message that breaches all three if your prompt tells it to. Our guide to GoHighLevel SMS A2P compliance in Australia covers registration and opt-out handling in the AI context.

After-hours coverage is the real argument

The strongest Australian case for Voice AI is not cost per minute — it is timezone. A Perth trades business losing calls between 5pm and 8am, or a service business fielding eastern-states enquiries after local staff have gone home, converts leads it was previously losing outright. Price that against a missed job, not a receptionist's hourly rate.

When AI Employee is not worth it

Skip it when the sub-account has low conversation volume — under roughly 500 monthly agent responses and minimal voice, pay-per-use costs a few dollars and $97 is pure waste. Skip it when the business has no knowledge base worth retrieving and no clear booking or qualification outcome, because an AI agent with nothing to work from produces polite nonsense that damages trust. Skip it when the sales process genuinely requires a human on the first call, which is most high-ticket professional services. And skip it across a portfolio: ten sub-accounts on Unlimited is $970 a month, well above the $497 agency plan those sub-accounts sit inside.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming $97 covers the phone bill. Telephony, SMS and number rental are billed separately at carrier rates on every plan — a busy Voice AI receptionist can generate more in call charges than in AI charges.
  • Enabling Unlimited across all sub-accounts because it looks like one agency toggle. It is charged per enabled location. Audit each against actual usage in the AI Suite first.
  • Defaulting to ElevenLabs V3 because it sounds best in the demo. At $0.170/min versus $0.015/min, it is over eleven times the TTS cost and halves your break-even point.
  • Budgeting Agent Studio inside the bundle. It is pay-per-use on every plan, and web search at $0.01 each plus video at $0.15–$0.40 per second adds up fast on an agent that browses.
  • Forgetting premium workflow actions. At $0.01 each on top of any AI plan, 3,000 executions a month is $30 that no AI Employee plan absorbs.
  • Setting a rebilling multiplier and never reviewing it. A 2.5x multiplier on a client whose Voice AI volume triples produces an invoice you will spend a week defending.

Frequently asked questions

Is GoHighLevel AI Employee pricing charged per agency or per sub-account?

Per sub-account, per month. AI Employee Growth is USD $50 per enabled location and AI Employee Unlimited is USD $97 per enabled location. Ten sub-accounts on Unlimited is USD $970 a month, which is why enabling it globally rather than selectively is the most expensive mistake agencies make with it.

Does the $97 Unlimited plan cover phone and SMS costs?

No. Phone system charges apply to every call regardless of plan, and SMS is billed separately through LC Phone or your own Twilio account. The AI plans cover AI processing only — voice engine, text-to-speech and model tokens. Telephony sits on a completely separate line funded from the same agency wallet.

Is Agent Studio included in AI Employee?

No. Agent Studio is explicitly excluded from Pay-Per-Use, Growth and Unlimited, and always bills at model token rates. On top of tokens you pay per-unit charges for external tools — USD $0.01 per Tavily web search, $0.04 to $0.12 per DALL-E 3 image, and $0.15 to $0.40 per second of Veo3 video generation.

Do I need the $497 agency plan to rebill AI usage?

Yes. HighLevel requires the $497/month agency plan to rebill AI Employee usage to sub-accounts. On the $97 or $297 plans you can still use every AI feature, but the cost stays with your agency wallet and cannot be on-charged through SaaS Mode.

At what volume does Unlimited beat pay-per-use?

Roughly 700 to 1,000 Voice AI minutes a month using OpenAI or Cartesia voices at $0.015/min TTS, or around 450 minutes if you use ElevenLabs V3 at $0.170/min. Conversation AI volume shifts the crossover earlier. Below about 300 voice minutes with moderate chat volume, pay-per-use is almost always cheaper.
