Your GoHighLevel thank-you page is the one step in the funnel that every converted lead is guaranteed to see, yet most builds treat it as an afterthought with a single "Thanks, check your inbox" line. That is a wasted moment of peak attention, right after someone has said yes to you.
In this guide I walk through how I set up the HighLevel funnel confirmation page for clients across Australia: how to route people to it, what to put on it, how to fire conversion events without double counting, how to personalise it, and how to measure whether it is pulling its weight.
Quick Facts
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Where it lives | A normal step inside a GHL Funnel (or a page on a Website), usually placed after the opt-in or order step |
| How people arrive | The form's On Submit setting (next funnel step or a URL), a calendar confirmation redirect, or an order form's next step |
| Funnel-wide scripts | Head tracking code in funnel settings loads on every step |
| Step-only scripts | Page-level tracking/footer code on the thank-you step itself, ideal for conversion events |
| Automation hook | The Funnel/Website Page View workflow trigger can fire when a contact views a specific page |
| Reporting | Funnel Stats shows page views (all and unique), opt-ins and opt-in rate per step |
Why the GoHighLevel thank-you page is your most under-used step
Someone who has just filled in your form is paying full attention, yet most funnels spend that moment on a dead end. A good confirmation page turns one conversion into the next commitment: a booked call, a watched video, a small purchase or a referral.
It is also the cleanest place in the whole funnel to measure conversions. Only people who completed the previous step should ever land there, which makes it a natural home for your pixel and ad-platform events.
How to build a HighLevel funnel confirmation page
Start by adding a new step to your funnel in the Funnels builder and name it clearly, for example "Thank You – Guide Opt-in". Give it a readable path such as /thank-you-guide so it is easy to spot in reports and tracking tools.
Form "On Submit": next funnel step vs. redirect URL
Inside the form builder, the On Submit options let you either show a message, go to the next step in the funnel, or redirect to a specific URL. The choice matters more than most people realise.
| Routing option | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Go to next funnel step | Standard opt-in funnels where the thank-you step sits directly after the form step | Re-ordering steps later changes where people land, so re-check after edits |
| Redirect to URL | Sending people to a thank-you page in a different funnel, a Website page or an external page | Typos and old domains; test every redirect after a domain change |
| Show message only | Embedded forms on a long page where you do not want to leave the page | No separate page view, so page-view-based conversion tracking will not fire |
| Calendar confirmation redirect | Booking funnels where the calendar widget is the conversion | Reschedules may hit the same page, which can inflate booking conversions |
My default is "next funnel step" for simple opt-ins and a redirect URL whenever the form is shared across several funnels or embedded on a Website page. Mixing the two without a plan is how leads end up on the wrong thank-you page.
Calendar confirmation redirects
For booking funnels, the conversion happens inside the calendar widget, not a form. In the calendar's confirmation settings you can choose to show a message or redirect to a URL after booking.
Point that redirect to a dedicated "You're booked" step rather than reusing your lead-magnet thank-you page. If you are still setting calendars up, my walkthrough on configuring GoHighLevel calendars and booking widgets covers the confirmation options in more detail.
What to put on your GoHighLevel thank-you page
The page should do one primary job and, at most, one secondary job. Pick from this list based on what the previous step was.
- A clear next step. Tell them exactly what happens now: "Check your inbox from hello@yourdomain in the next five minutes."
- Calendar embed. For high-intent opt-ins, embed a calendar so they can book a call while they are warm.
- Short welcome video. Ninety seconds from you, explaining what they will get and why it matters.
- One-time offer. A low-priced, closely related product with an order form, ideally time-limited and honest about it.
- Lead-magnet delivery. A direct download button as a backup to the email delivery.
- Referral ask. A simple share link or "forward this to a colleague" prompt.
Lead-magnet delivery deserves special care. I always deliver by email and on the page, because spam filters and typos happen. The workflow side is covered in my guide to automating lead magnet delivery in HighLevel.
Firing conversion events on the thank-you page without double counting
Because only converted leads should reach this page, it is the simplest trigger for a "Lead" or "Schedule" event. You have two places to add code in GHL: the funnel-wide head tracking code and the page-level code on the individual step.
Put your base tags (Google Tag Manager container, Meta pixel base code, Google tag) in the funnel-wide head code. Put the conversion event only on the thank-you step, or fire it from GTM using a page-path trigger.
GTM, Meta pixel and Google Ads
If you use GTM, create a trigger for page views where the page path equals your thank-you path, then attach your Meta Lead event and Google Ads conversion tag to it. My step-by-step on setting up Google Tag Manager on GHL funnels shows the container install.
For Google Ads specifically, set the conversion action to count "one" per click for lead forms, which stops refreshes inflating results. The full setup is in my guide to Google Ads conversion tracking for HighLevel.
Avoiding double counting
Double counting is the most common tracking problem I find in client audits. The usual cause is the same event firing from two places, for example a hard-coded pixel event on the page and a GTM tag on the same trigger.
- Fire each conversion from one place only: either page code or GTM, never both.
- Do not put event code in the funnel-wide head, or every step will report a conversion.
- Set deduplication options in each ad platform (count once per click, event IDs where supported).
- Keep the thank-you page out of navigation menus and sitemaps so people cannot reach it without converting.

Personalising the confirmation page with merge fields and URL parameters
A thank-you page that says "Thanks, Sarah" feels noticeably more human than a generic one. GHL lets you place merge fields such as {{contact.first_name}} in text elements on funnel pages.
Those fields only fill in when HighLevel can identify the contact, for example after they have just submitted a form in the same funnel or arrived from a tracked email link. Always write a fallback that reads naturally if the name is blank, such as "You're in!" rather than "Thanks, !".
When you redirect to a URL, you can also pass details along as query parameters, for example ?first_name=Sarah&[email protected]. This is handy for prefilling a follow-up form or a calendar on the thank-you page so the lead does not retype anything.
Be careful with what you put in a URL. Avoid passing sensitive data in query strings, since URLs can end up in browser history, analytics reports and ad platform logs. First name is usually fine; health details, phone numbers and anything regulated are not.
Tagging and workflow triggers from the thank-you page
The form submission itself should do most of the heavy lifting in Workflows: apply a tag, create or move an opportunity in the right pipeline, and send the delivery email or SMS.
The thank-you page adds a second signal. HighLevel's Funnel/Website Page View workflow trigger can fire when a known contact views a specific page, which is useful for secondary actions.
- Tag contacts who viewed the one-time offer step but did not buy, then send a short follow-up sequence.
- Tag people who reached the "You're booked" page so your show-up reminders only go to confirmed bookings.
- Add a note or internal notification so sales can see the lead watched the welcome video page.
Measuring thank-you page performance in Funnel Stats
Funnel Stats shows page views (all and unique), opt-ins, opt-in rate and sales per step. According to HighLevel's Funnel Statistics documentation, opt-in rate is calculated against unique page views, so compare like with like.
Here is what I check on a thank-you step each month:
- Unique views on the thank-you step versus opt-ins on the previous step. A large gap usually means a broken redirect.
- Opt-ins or sales on the thank-you step itself, if it carries a calendar or one-time offer.
If you want to go deeper on reading these numbers, my guide to HighLevel funnel conversion analytics explains how to spot leaks step by step. Once you have a baseline, test one thank-you element at a time, such as video versus no video.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Leaving the thank-you page as a dead end with no next step, video, offer or booking option.
- Firing conversion events in the funnel-wide head code, so every step reports a conversion.
- Running the same event through both hard-coded pixel code and GTM, doubling your numbers.
- Using "Show message only" on a form and then wondering why page-view conversions never fire.
- Reusing one generic thank-you page for every funnel, which muddles reporting and personalisation.
- Passing sensitive contact details in redirect URL query strings.

Frequently asked questions
What is a GoHighLevel thank-you page?
It is a funnel step or website page that people land on after completing a form, booking or purchase. It confirms the action, tells them what happens next and is the best place to fire conversion tracking. You build it in the Funnels builder like any other page.
Should I use "next funnel step" or a redirect URL after a form?
Use the next funnel step when the thank-you page sits directly after the form in the same funnel. Use a redirect URL when the form is embedded elsewhere or shared across several funnels. Test the route after any change to steps or domains.
How do I redirect people after they book a calendar appointment?
In the calendar's confirmation settings, choose to redirect to a URL instead of showing a message. Point it to a dedicated booking confirmation page. Keep it separate from your lead-magnet thank-you page so your reporting stays clean.
Where should I put my Meta pixel or Google Ads conversion code?
Put base tracking code in the funnel-wide head code and the conversion event only on the thank-you step, or fire it from Google Tag Manager with a page-path trigger. Never fire the same event from both places. That is the most common cause of double-counted conversions.
Can I show the contact's name on the thank-you page?
Yes, you can add merge fields such as {{contact.first_name}} to text elements on funnel pages. They fill in when HighLevel can identify the contact, such as right after a form submission. Always write copy that still reads naturally if the field is blank.
Can a thank-you page trigger a workflow?
Yes, the Funnel/Website Page View workflow trigger can start a workflow when a known contact views a specific page. Use it for secondary actions like tagging offer viewers. Keep core actions such as delivery emails on the form or booking trigger.
How do I know if my thank-you page is working?
Compare unique views on the thank-you step with opt-ins on the previous step in Funnel Stats. A big gap usually signals a broken redirect. If the page carries an offer or calendar, track the opt-ins, sales or bookings it generates too.
