GoHighLevel vs ClickFunnels: Features & True Cost (2026)

By Dr Priya Jaganathan, GoHighLevel Certified Admin · HL Growth Partner, Australia · Updated 18 July 2026 · 9 min read

Quick verdict: ClickFunnels 2.0 is the better pure funnel builder — the editor is more polished and the training community is excellent. GoHighLevel is the better business platform: it bundles the CRM, Workflows, email, SMS, calendars and white-label SaaS Mode that ClickFunnels either does lightly or not at all. If you run an agency or want one bill instead of five, GoHighLevel wins on total cost almost every time.

The GoHighLevel vs ClickFunnels question comes up in almost every discovery call I run with Australian agencies and small businesses, and the honest answer is more nuanced than either fan base admits. These are not the same category of product. ClickFunnels 2.0 is a funnel-first platform with some CRM and automation features added around it. GoHighLevel (often just called HighLevel) is a full sales and marketing system — CRM, pipelines, Workflows, email, SMS, calendars, reputation management — that happens to include a funnel builder.

I have built client funnels in both. In this comparison I will go feature by feature — funnel building, automation depth, email and SMS, memberships, agency white-labelling — and finish with a true monthly cost stack, because the sticker price on either pricing page is not what you actually end up paying. Where ClickFunnels genuinely does something better, I will say so plainly.

HighLevel vs ClickFunnels at a glance

If you only read one section, make it this one. ClickFunnels earns its reputation in three areas: the editor experience is smoother for non-technical users, the brand carries weight with clients who have heard of it, and the community and training ecosystem (challenges, courses, an enormous library of shared funnels) is the best in the industry. Those are real advantages, not marketing fluff.

GoHighLevel wins on breadth and economics. One subscription covers the CRM, unlimited pipelines, Workflows with genuinely deep trigger logic, two-way SMS through LeadConnector or your own Twilio account, email via Mailgun, calendars, courses, and — on the Agency Pro plan — SaaS Mode, which lets you resell the whole platform under your own brand. ClickFunnels has no equivalent to sub-accounts, snapshots or white-labelling at all.

The one-sentence version

Choose ClickFunnels if your business genuinely revolves around a small number of high-converting funnels and you are happy to run your CRM and follow-up elsewhere. Choose GoHighLevel if you want the funnel, the follow-up and the client management in one platform — especially if you serve clients.

Funnel and page building

This is ClickFunnels' home ground, and it shows. The ClickFunnels 2.0 editor is fast, the pre-built funnel templates are conversion-tested, and features like Smart Checkout (one-click upsells, order bumps, saved payment details) are more refined than GoHighLevel's checkout experience out of the box. If you are launching a book funnel or a webinar funnel and want it converting by Friday, ClickFunnels gets you there with less fiddling.

GoHighLevel's funnel builder is competent rather than delightful. It does everything you need — multi-step funnels, A/B splits, order bumps, one-click upsells, custom domains — but the editor occasionally requires more manual styling to get a page looking sharp. The gap has narrowed considerably over the past two years, and for most local-business funnels the difference is cosmetic. My GoHighLevel lead capture funnel guide shows what the builder can actually do.

Where the difference matters

For information-product sellers running cold traffic at scale, ClickFunnels' checkout polish can genuinely move conversion rates. For service businesses — clinics, trades, coaches, consultants — the funnel is usually a simple opt-in or booking page, and GoHighLevel's builder is more than adequate. Judge this section against what you actually sell.

CRM and automation depth

Here the comparison stops being close. GoHighLevel's CRM is a proper operational system: unlimited contacts, customisable pipelines, opportunity stages, tasks, notes, and a unified conversation view that pulls email, SMS, Facebook and Instagram messages, and calls into one thread per contact. ClickFunnels 2.0 does include a contacts area with tags and basic segmentation, but it is a list manager attached to a funnel builder, not a CRM you would run a sales team from.

Automation is a similar story. GoHighLevel Workflows support dozens of trigger types — form submissions, pipeline stage changes, appointment status, tag changes, inbound calls, missed-call events — with branching logic, wait steps, goal events and webhooks. ClickFunnels 2.0 has workflows too, but they are comparatively basic: email-centric sequences with limited branching. You cannot build something like a missed-call text-back or a multi-channel appointment reminder sequence natively in ClickFunnels.

Conversation AI and the newer tooling

GoHighLevel has also pushed hard into AI. Conversation AI can answer inbound SMS and chat, qualify leads and book appointments into your calendar without a human touching the thread. ClickFunnels has AI-assisted copywriting in the editor, which is useful for drafting pages, but nothing comparable on the conversation side. If automation depth is your deciding factor, this section is effectively the whole comparison.

Email, SMS and follow-up

ClickFunnels 2.0 includes email broadcasts and sequences, and for straightforward launch emails they work fine. But there is no native SMS. If your follow-up strategy involves texting — and in Australia, SMS open rates make it the highest-leverage follow-up channel for local businesses — you will be bolting on a third-party tool and wiring it together with Zapier or webhooks.

GoHighLevel treats SMS as a first-class channel. Through LeadConnector (or a rebilled Twilio setup on agency plans) you get two-way texting inside the same conversation view as email, with usage-based pricing on top of your subscription. Email runs through Mailgun with similar usage-based billing — typically a few dollars a month for a small database, not hundreds. Reviews requests, appointment reminders, nurture sequences and missed-call text-backs all live in the same Workflows engine.

Deliverability and sending practice

Neither platform saves you from bad sending habits — warm your domain, authenticate with SPF and DKIM, and keep your list clean on either tool. If email sophistication is your main criterion, read my GoHighLevel vs ActiveCampaign comparison, because ActiveCampaign still leads both platforms on pure segmentation.

Courses and memberships

Both platforms include a course builder, and both are workable rather than world-class. ClickFunnels 2.0's courses product is tidy, integrates cleanly with Smart Checkout, and suits the classic info-product model it was designed around. GoHighLevel's Memberships area supports courses, communities, drip content, and free or paid access, with no per-student fees on any plan — including unlimited video hosting.

The practical difference is again the surrounding system. In GoHighLevel, a course purchase can trigger a Workflow that tags the contact, enrols them, starts an onboarding SMS sequence and moves an opportunity through a pipeline. In ClickFunnels the purchase-to-follow-up chain is shorter and shallower. Neither will replace a dedicated platform like Kajabi for a premium course brand, but for bundling a course with services, GoHighLevel's version costs you nothing extra.

Agency use: white-label, SaaS Mode and snapshots

This section decides the comparison for agencies, because ClickFunnels simply does not compete here. There is no white-label option, no client sub-account architecture and no way to resell ClickFunnels under your brand. Every client needs their own ClickFunnels subscription, under the ClickFunnels brand, at ClickFunnels prices.

GoHighLevel was built for exactly this model. On the US$297 Unlimited plan you get unlimited sub-accounts — one per client — under your own branded domain. Snapshots let you package an entire client build (funnels, Workflows, pipelines, calendars, email templates) and deploy it to a new sub-account in minutes, which is how agencies onboard a new clinic or trade client in an afternoon instead of a fortnight.

SaaS Mode

On the US$497 Agency Pro plan, SaaS Mode lets you sell GoHighLevel itself as your own software product — your brand, your pricing tiers, automated billing through Stripe, and rebilled Twilio and Mailgun usage with your margin on top. Agencies I work with charge anywhere from AU$97 to AU$497 a month per client for their white-labelled platform. There is no ClickFunnels answer to this; it is a different business model entirely.

Pricing and the true monthly cost

Sticker prices first. GoHighLevel is US$97/month (Starter, up to three sub-accounts), US$297/month (Unlimited) and US$497/month (Agency Pro with SaaS Mode). ClickFunnels 2.0 tiers run from roughly US$97 to US$297/month depending on plan and current packaging — prices shift, so check the official GoHighLevel pricing page and ClickFunnels pricing page before deciding. I break down which GoHighLevel tier fits which business in my GoHighLevel pricing plans explainer.

The sticker price is not the real comparison, though. Because ClickFunnels covers less of the stack, you typically still pay for a CRM, an SMS tool, a scheduler and often a connector like Zapier. Here is a realistic monthly stack for a small business doing proper multi-channel follow-up:

FunctionGoHighLevel routeClickFunnels 2.0 route
Platform subscriptionUS$97–$297 (Starter/Unlimited)~US$97–$297
CRM & pipelinesIncludedBasic contacts; real CRM ~US$25–$100
Email marketingIncluded (Mailgun usage, ~US$5–$20)Included (basic)
Two-way SMSIncluded (Twilio usage, ~US$10–$30)Third-party tool, ~US$25–$75
Scheduling/calendarsIncludedCalendly or similar, ~US$10–$20
Courses/membershipsIncludedIncluded
Integration glue (Zapier etc.)Rarely needed~US$20–$50
Realistic monthly total~US$112–$347~US$177–$542

For a solo funnel builder who already loves a separate CRM, the gap narrows. For an agency, multiply the ClickFunnels column by every client and the comparison ends quickly: one US$297 GoHighLevel Unlimited plan covers unlimited client sub-accounts, where ClickFunnels requires a separate subscription per client.

Who should pick which

Pick ClickFunnels 2.0 if

You sell information products or run high-volume paid-traffic funnels where checkout polish directly affects revenue; you value the training community and template ecosystem; and you are content running your CRM, SMS and scheduling in separate tools you already own. It is a genuinely good product inside its lane.

Pick GoHighLevel if

You run an agency and want sub-accounts, snapshots and white-label or SaaS Mode economics; you are a local or service business where follow-up speed (SMS, missed-call text-back, appointment reminders) drives revenue more than page aesthetics; or you are consolidating four or five subscriptions into one platform and one bill. In my client base, that describes most Australian small businesses.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Comparing sticker prices instead of stack prices. ClickFunnels at US$97 plus a CRM, SMS tool and scheduler usually costs more than GoHighLevel at US$97 with everything included.
  • Choosing on brand recognition alone. ClickFunnels is the name clients know, but your clients see your funnels and results, not the software logo.
  • Buying Agency Pro before you need SaaS Mode. Most agencies should start on the US$297 Unlimited plan and upgrade only when they are ready to rebill software.
  • Assuming ClickFunnels workflows match GoHighLevel Workflows. The names are the same; the depth is not. Map your actual automations before committing.
  • Migrating funnels without rebuilding tracking. Whichever direction you move, re-test pixels, domains, form mappings and automation triggers before switching traffic over.
  • Running both platforms indefinitely. Paying for two overlapping tools "just in case" is the most common and most expensive non-decision I see.

Frequently asked questions

Is GoHighLevel better than ClickFunnels?

For most agencies and service businesses, yes — GoHighLevel includes the CRM, Workflows, SMS, calendars and white-label features that ClickFunnels lacks, at a comparable or lower total cost. ClickFunnels is still the better choice if you specifically want the most polished funnel-first editor and already run your CRM and follow-up elsewhere.

Can GoHighLevel replace ClickFunnels completely?

Yes. GoHighLevel's funnel builder supports multi-step funnels, A/B testing, order bumps and one-click upsells, so anything you build in ClickFunnels can be rebuilt in GoHighLevel. The editor takes slightly more styling effort, but you gain the CRM and automation layer ClickFunnels cannot match.

Which is cheaper, GoHighLevel or ClickFunnels?

On sticker price they are similar — GoHighLevel starts at US$97/month and ClickFunnels 2.0 tiers run roughly US$97 to US$297/month. On true cost GoHighLevel is usually cheaper, because ClickFunnels users typically add a CRM, SMS tool, scheduler and Zapier, pushing the real monthly stack to US$177 to $542 or more.

Does ClickFunnels 2.0 have a CRM?

ClickFunnels 2.0 has a contacts area with tags, segmentation and basic workflows, but it is not a full CRM — there are no deep pipelines, unified SMS and email conversations, or advanced trigger-based automation comparable to GoHighLevel's opportunities and Workflows.

Can I migrate my funnels from ClickFunnels to GoHighLevel?

Yes, though pages must be rebuilt rather than imported directly. Most funnels can be recreated in GoHighLevel within a few hours using its templates, and agencies often package the rebuild as a snapshot. Re-test domains, tracking pixels, forms and automation triggers before switching live traffic across.
